The Union Rescue Mission is a private Christian homeless shelter in downtown Los Angeles’s Skid Row. It is the largest private homeless shelter in the United States. Founded in 1891, it provides emergency and long-term services including food, shelter, clothing, medical and dental care, recovery programs, transitional housing, legal assistance, education, counseling, and job training. Union Rescue Mission is part of the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions. I began saving my travel sized hotel soaps, lotions, shampoos and conditioners to pass on to those in need. With the help of a few friends, this task evolved in to the Measures of Help (MOH) Project. Measures of Help (MOH) was able to support the Union Rescue Mission with 50 personal hygiene gift bags in May of 2012 and each bag included:
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Lotion
- Soap
- Deodorant
- Tooth Brush / Tooth Paste
- Hand Sanitizer
- Chap Stick
- Comb / Brush
- Tampons / Maxi Pads
- Bandana
- Razor (disposable)
