The Value This! Innovation tournament (part of Brandman University Ed.D.) gave HOT teams, modeled after IDEO, a raw material (Amazon cardboard boxes) and tasked to come up “with an idea for a new venture using an everyday object that will change the world by creating the most value possible.”

HOT team #1 built platform beds that lifted the homeless 7 inches off the ground to better regulate temperature and ease stress on the body. The bed consists of 11 pieces of cardboard that fit together by means of specific cuts and folds. To access plans go to www.cardbeds.org or HOT Team #1 Instagram page @build_a_bed.
Twenty beds were created using cardbord to be distributed to the homeless in Pomona, CA. Measures Of Help was asked to supply twenty hygiene bags to the project to be given along with the beds. Please check out the link below which documents planning and focus of the project.
